COHATCH Polaris -- The Meridian Room

[CDN] Soul Shaping – From Cultural Currents to Spiritual Depth

It's not news to anyone that our culture is increasingly polarized, including within the church. How can we help ourselves, and those around us, lay down our cultural baggage and partisan aims to be formed into His likeness? Nick Nye of For Columbus has ample experience walking this fine line.

Event Details

"... Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." - Ephesians 4:14-16

How can we help those we disciple to be charactorized by maturity in Christ, rather than being "tossed back and forth, blown here and there"? The wind and waves of our culture have proven a powerful force in the life of the church. But there is another way. Helping to shape those in our midst toward depth, maturity, and stability may be challenging -- but nothing is impossible with God!

Nick Nye is the Executive Director of For Columbus and a longtime pastor, church planter, and keen thinker. Nick has made it his life's mission to help brothers and sisters in Christ bridge the divide of church tradition, political affiliation, racial and cultural backgrounds, and sector of influence to have a deeper and more meaningful conversation that helps move toward, not away from, unity and maturity.

This well-timed talk (peak election season!) should be an excellent discussion to kick off our 2024-2025 lunch series -- join us!

PLEASE NOTE: Our location is changing! We'll meet at the Polaris COHATCH for the 2024-2025 season.

Columbus Discipleship Network meets the third Thursday of the month (second Tuesday in Nov & Dec) for inspiration, equipping, and community for everyday disciplemakers. A catered lunch is provided free of charge, but we do ask that you RSVP. Feel free to invite anyone you think may benefit.
